We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Brian Fabregue, President of Blue Europe, will be taking the stage on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the “2024 Conference on Recent Developments in Commercial and Financial Law: Insights from Law and Data” hosted by the Center for Legal Data Science (CLDS) and the Society of Commercial and Financial Law (SCFL), in association with Loyens & Loeff, at the University of Zurich, Faculty of Law. This year’s conference focuses on the pivotal themes at the intersection of technology, law, and finance, drawing experts, practitioners, and academics from around Europe.

Mr. Fabregue’s intervention in the “Data Governance and Regulation” section titled “From Principles Regulation to Data Benchmarking Regulation?” aims to shed light on the evolving landscape of data governance and the critical role of benchmarking in regulating the European markets. With a special emphasis on the challenges presented by greenwashing, Mr. Fabregue will offer valuable insights derived from recent European Surveillance Authorities greenwashing reports.

The phenomenon of greenwashing has emerged as a pressing concern within the European Union, as companies increasingly seek to present their products and services as environmentally friendly, sometimes without substantive actions to back such claims. Mr. Fabregue’s presentation will explore the regulatory responses to this challenge, analysing the shift towards data benchmarking regulation as a means to ensure transparency, accountability, and genuine sustainability in the market.

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage during the discussion sessions, providing a platform for lively debate and exchange of ideas on how to navigate the complexities of data governance in the pursuit of an efficient and transparent market.

We invite all members of Blue Europe and the wider community to join us in Zurich or for this enlightening session. For more information on the conference schedule and to register, please visit the University of Zurich website page here. We look forward to seeing you there and engaging in this important conversation.
